French Butter Dish with incised design in the lid. Each piece is handmade and hand carved so there are slight variations in design and color.
French Butter Dishes allows you to store your butter out of the fridge and yet it remains fresh. It does this by creating an air tight seal. You pack butter in the lid (designed to hold a quarter pound or one stick) and you place about an inch and half of water in the base. Invert the lid submersing the butter in the water and creating the seal. The butter does not mix (oil and water) but remains fresh and SOFT for easy spreading.

I didn’t know what a Butter Bell was until I read an article recently and it mentioned it. So I looked it up on Wikipedia (because that is the source for all knowledge! 😆), and thought “😳 Wooo! I want one!!”. My first stop was of course Amazon and then I said, “No wait Etsy is waaaaay better for this stuff!” And so I found my way here! It came very snuggly packed, and it’s PERFECT!!! I stuffed my butter in it last night (carefully following the instructions… especially the part about hanging on to the wrapper to help stuff it…). And, this morning my toast was appropriately buttered beautifully. 56 years and I never knew this butter technology existed!!! (Er … 56-“ISH”)

This came today, and I couldn’t be happier with it! The color is perfect, and it is beautifully made. I’ve wanted a French butter keeper for awhile, but like clean lines and patterns, and this fit the bill. Shipping was very fast, and packaging was very secure. You can’t go wrong with this seller. There were very clear instructions on how to use it, which I greatly appreciated!
